March 2004
Hello,
It's been a busy and unpredictable start to the year. The idea
was to write material for a new album and get The Elio Pace Band
out on tour. However, small change of plan!
Firstly, Shakin' Stevens called, asking me to play piano for
him for a couple of gigs in Europe including the Royal Opera House
in Frankfurt. An offer I couldn't refuse as I was a big Shaky
fan back in the 80's. Jim finally fixed it for me!!
And
secondly, another offer I just couldn't turn down; the opportunity
of touring the UK musically directing the Motown legend that is
Martha Reeves. www.marthareeves.com
The show is called 'Dancing In The Streets' and features not
only Martha Reeves' hits like 'Dancing In The Street', 'Jimmy
Mack' and 'Nowhere To Run', but also songs by The Temptations,
The Supremes, The Four Tops, Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye and
many more, performed by a cast of fantastic singers.
I am not singing in the show, but I am on stage throughout playing
piano and conducting the band, three of which play in mine: Martyn
Hope on guitar and Paul Murphy on drums who feature on 'Come And
Get It' and Ian King on bass who has appeared with my band many
times in the past.
We will be on the road until April 18th playing major theatres
up and down the country. It's a great show, and if we are coming
to a theatre near you (dates below) and you're a Motown fan then
it's well worth a visit. Don't forget to come and say hello, it
would be lovely to meet you.
Once the tour is over I will get back to writing my new album
and I hope to have news of my own live gigs.
All the very best,
Elio x
